THE PURPOSE OF LOVE(SPECIAL EDITION)

1 Corinthians  13:1-2" Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.  13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Valentine’s day is observed in memory of the Saint Valentine who is said to have been executed on February 14th in A.D 470 for performing weddings for Roman soldiers (It was a violation of the Roman Law). I belive that’s why he is called the Parton Saint of beloveds and people around the world celebrate romantic love on the day of his execution. The purpose of a thing is put as it's  aim,intention or use. From our anchor scripture we see love in the following light. .........

•As the yardstick  for measuring spiritual maturity.
Todays world and church measures the value of a person by his outward appearance,position, possession, charisma or spiritual gift. I will like you to note that the fruit of the spirit is the outward sign of spiritual maturity but  genuine love is the main fruit.

•Love is the path to eternal life.The truth of the matter is that Self sacrifice and martyrdom is  fruitless if not motivated  by love. You know love brought Jesus to die for our sins. John 3:16. Its impossible to inherit eternal life unless our affection for God is backed by brotherly love for love is the outer manifestation of inner righteousness, ( 1Corinthians 16:1).

•Love is the ultimate sacrifice.The word “love” is used to describe at least four types of love relationships in English.•A. The relationship between the members of a family.•B. The relationship between friends.•C. The romantic relationship between a man and woman.• And The relationship between Christ and his Church. •But the Greek  interpretation is different for each type of these love relationships.•A. Storge: The relationship between the members of a family•B. Philia: The relationship between friends •C. Eros: The romantic relationship between a man and woman •D. Agape: The relationship between Christ and his Church . What ever category of love you find yourself express as unto Christ.  Happy Valentine.
