Topic: Anointed for Relevance
Bible Reading: Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18, Judges 14:6.
Nobody can be relevant without the Holy Spirit. What makes people relevant is standing on the area of your strength. The worse thing that can happen to a man is to be without the spirit of God that was why people accused Jesus because he did what others could not do. Remember the prayer of David “…Take not thy spirit from me.” God created us for relevance that was why after making Adam God breathe the breath of life and man became relevant - Gen.2:7. In John 20:22 – (And when he had said this, he breathed on [them], and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.) Jesus had to do what he did because he knew nobody can be relevant without the spirit of God. Let’s look at the case of Samson – Judges 15:14. When the spirit of God is upon a man two things happen:
• Ropes and chains are broken. Whatever bound you this year it is broken, no rope can stop your relevance because the spirit of God is upon you. 2 Corinthians 3:17 - Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty.
• Lions are disarmed. Judges 14:6 - Suddenly the power of the LORD made Samson strong, and he tore the lion apart with his bare hands, as if it were a young goat. But he did not tell his parents what he had done. Every tribe and family have a lion but Jesus is the lion of the tribe of Judah and for the reason of this meeting no lion shall see or swallow you. Amen.
If the Spirit of God must be upon you, then you must do the following:
• You must be a disciple - A follower and imitator of Christ – Acts 1:13. And in Acts 13:52-And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost. If you are not his disciple, you cannot be filled with the Holy Ghost.
• Feed on the word – Acts 10:44.
• Don’t drink everything and anyhow. Ephesians 5:18 - And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. You can be drunk by wine or the Holy Spirit. Hannah and the disciples were mistaken to be drunk with wine. The mother of Samson was warned never to allow Samson to drink wine if he must be relevant.
• Run away from unclean things. Judges 13:4.
• Be careful of your hair. Hair here is the gifting of God in your life, it is a treasure and must be valued. Do not abuse the gift of God in your life.
• Pray always.
Finally, let it be known that without the Holy Spirit nobody can be relevant on earth. The foundation of it all is becoming born again, living a new life in Christ will lay the foundation.
